Kalikid, Phillipines

This is a long-term resettlement project for families who have ended up destitute on the streets of Manilla, with little hope of ever escaping the cycle of poverty.

For those who choose a new start in life, this community offers a place they can call home and a range of farming initiatives to help generate an income. Although they are small, these homes mean the world to them and they are overwhelming appreciative of somewhere to raise their children in safety. Initially this project will be for a community centre and 10 new homes with further stages to follow.

A Hong Kong based architect is working on the design of the village and buildings and together with him and two organisations based in the Philippines we are seeking to build these homes and at the same time train these former street people in fundamental building skills, empowering them to help themselves and their own people as they look forward to a brighter future.
