The Refuge Initiative is a project developed to meet the needs of refugees that have fled their destroyed communities after years of ISIS advances in Northern Iraq and Syria.
Here, we are supporting ‘World Orphans’ to build communities of hope by providing homes for refugees in partnership with the local government as well as seeking to restore dignity by building pathways back to independent living through the refugee school and vocational training center called, ‘The Refuge’.
By building homes and developing small refugee villages, families are enabled to stick together in their natural family and tribal groupings while at the same time preserving their sense of privacy.
These villages are run by and in many cases, built by the actual refugees themselves to encourage self- autonomy and enabling true dignity and a better pathway towards independent living.
